Beef and Goat from Steelman Farms
At Steelman Farms, we raise the same beef and goat that we feed our own family. Our livestock is raised on pasture, without added hormones or antibiotics, and cared for with the same attention we give the rest of our ranch.
We believe in knowing where your food comes from and how it is raised.
How Our Meat Is Raised
Our cattle and goats are:

Calves and heifers are supplemented with feed as needed to provide extra nutrition at critical growth points, like weaning and before turning in with bulls.
All processing is done through USDA-inspected facilities, ensuring quality and safety from our ranch to your table.

Grass-fed Beef Done Right!
What we have in the freezers now was butchered late in the summer, and vacuum sealed for freshness. We won’t butcher steers in the late fall or winter because, although they are on pasture, the grass is dormant and we must feed hay, so technically, they are hay-fed rather than grass-fed if butchered right now. We will only take them to the butcher in late spring and summer when the grass is lush and super nutritious.
Goats are low-impact, non selective browsers, meaning they eat diverse vegetation, including plants that sheep and cows can’t or won’t eat, like noxious weeds.
Because they’re small and nimble, goats can access areas other species can’t, and they’re well-suited to land that won’t support cattle or crops. Their tiny hooves have less impact on habitat.
